Car In The Paddock

Car In The Paddock

The earth worms are
crawling out of
the dash board
I am clutching them
pulling out clumps
some are breaking in half
on the grass.
A queen bee passes
through the air-con
from the abandoned
honeycomb.
I've got to get out of here
the timer is ticking
I can see beautiful
bands of rainbow blue
siphon down
the smouldering
steel manifold
dripping down the
fragile stems of
wild flowers
the smoking blades
of grass
a green fuse
In the combustible hue.

Avie.
