FIGHT NIGHT IN COURTENAY PLACE
I'm flagging down
a taxi cab
like I did in
New York
except
I want to get out
of this crazy zoo town
escape the frenzy
the macho baboons
hanging out of the
loud caged bars
the shadows
echoing down the
dark groping alleys
of hard luck currency.
The wild young birds
under the trees
calling obscenities to
the paddy wagons
full of drunken
saloon brawlers.
As I sit in the back
of the cab
I watch
the night's madness staring
through the armoured grills.
I know where you'll be
staying tonight buddy
punching the lights
out of
intoxicating stars.
Avie.
