In a wolf pack
frenzied attack
obsessed with a sense of grotesque intrigue
the little girls screamed
Ughhh! look what
we found
a dead mouse under the Pohutukawa tree,
and it's guts are
all hanging out
as they each
wait their turn
to probe forensically
the malformed rodent
with a large stick.

UNLOCKING THE SILENCE.
This morning the tiger
lost his way and
moved into
the dolls house
about the same time the
feral cats in the scream fest
hurled curses in the
bushes that caused
the owl to blink in
the bell tower.
The orphan locked inside the library filled with books of empty chapters
screamed out loud
holding in his palms
the loose poems of rhymes
falling apart
from the hinges
of broken spines.

One of the things I enjoy about going home to Wales is
sitting in front of
the T.V with Mam
watching S4c
Familiarising myself again with the language
I haven't got
a great Welsh vocabulary or understanding but
I enjoy connecting to
the vocal sounds of the language from the home land particularly the North Wales dialect ( Gog)
Emotionally the music has always had a profound effect in my heart especially now as time is ticking by,
it reveals my true
identity, my love, my loss the landscape the local Welsh spoken in the high street all the hiraeth you might say, that are the perpetual undercurrents
calling me back home .
FULL MOON.
We drove past
the white villas
the steam train
was clear on the
face of the moon and
not the Disney
face with dark
black eyes.
I cracked a joke and
said it's a full moon
the lunatics will be crazy tonight.
You looked at me
and laughed nervously.

TRAFFIC CONES
They stand out
in all weathers
a formal single file
of orange and white soldiers
sometimes stretching out
for miles.
A pyramid of
universal caution
huddled together
bruised and run over
used as giant party hats
thrown into gardens and abandoned shopping trolleys.
Taken to a completely different universe.

A CONTRAPTION OF
THE PAST.
At the table
you hold
the slides
up to the light
you can see the images
through the grey
winter sky.
The dangerous countries
you worked in
the make shift
canvas tents
and the vast desert landscapes.
You said
later when it gets dark
you would
take the picture frame down
and share the memories
if the bulb doesn't
get too hot
and blow out.
